Flax Winter School

Flax Winter School

Date 10 January, 2020
Time 11:00
Location The Netherlands Open Air Museum, Hoeferlaan 4 Arnhem

The Linen Project applies the approach of learning by doing throughout the entire chain of production. The project seeks to revive our relationship with the earth, starting at the beginning with crop cultivation. Flax stimulates biodiversity; it also provides the basis for many valuable products including linen, flaxseed, linseed oil, putty, soap, paint, linoleum and insulation material.

In collaboration with the Netherlands Open Air Museum, they have organised a three-day winter school around the traditional processes involved in transforming flax fibres and flaxseed into linen and linseed oil.

You can register to participate (for one, two or three days) by sending an email to willemien@craftscouncil.nl. Please specify for which day(s) you wish to register.

Participation costs € 25,00 per day, including entry to the Open Air Museum. As a token of our appreciation, participation is free of charge for those who contributed to The Linen Project’s cultivation activities during the summer.

The Linen Project is an initiative by ArtEZ MA Fashion Held in Common and Crafts Council Nederland. The project is financially supported by the BankGiro Loterij Fonds, the City of Arnhem, the Province of Gelderland and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
